We believe a very important part of the brand experience is not only the product itself, but everything else that the brand stands for and proactively does to shape the industry and make the world a better, more livable place. This is why we think it is important that you can take the time to read about what we stand for in terms of sustainability.

PRE-ORDER

The Pre-order model enables us to sustainably meet supply and demand, avoiding waste and extra stock at the end of the season. We can adjust manufacturing needs and quantities depending on the demand, and this leads to an almost zero stock scenario at the end of each season. This way we can move onto the next season light and fresh as we have ensured no stock has accumulated. Waste and stock accumulation is one of the main problem causers of the fashion industry and this is our alternative way to combat it. At Feners we believe that what we do must contribute to a cleaner world, not the other way around.

HONESTY

We believe in honest, transparent and stable pricing all year round. We don’t believe in generating anxiety or stress to drive sales because we believe in thoughtful consumption. We don’t support greenwashing as a marketing mechanism to portray brand practices in a dishonest way. Quality and luxury not only come from the product that you are purchasing, but also from everything that surrounds that brand.

FAIR LABOR

When the project was born, we spent one year scouting and visiting different factories until we found the right ones. One of the biggest impacts we can have in the industry is by being very responsible about where we manufacture. Thus differentiating ourselves from the mass-market brands that manufacture overseas. We only work with Spanish regulated manufacturers and keep a safe, clean environment for their team. They also ensure that the use of harmful materials like certain types of chrome, glue, and other chemicals are forbidden. The working conditions of the team are carefully monitored to ensure that legal schedules are maintained and salaries are fair. Creating long-lasting relationships is at the core of our values and that also stands for our community and partners. You can read more about our manufacturers here.

CARBON FOOTPRINT AND LOCAL SOURCING

We ensure the
minimum carbon footprint is attributed to each product we make and sell by guaranteeing that everything from our raw materials, suppliers and other stakeholders and partners are locally sourced. Almost every material comes from suppliers in Spain, Portugal, Italy and some from the rest of Europe. All of them have a direct relationship with us and are audited either by us or by our manufacturer. The travel of those materials to Spain is made by road, not air, also reducing the footprint it generates.

MATERIALS

We are very strict when it comes to raw materials and sourcing anything. From organic cotton to plant-based leather and Leather-Working-Group certified leather, we are carving a path to a more sustainable industry and a less polluted world.

Our artisan manufacturers are based in the town of Elche, which is in the province of Alicante, Spain. This is where the magic happens. Alicante has worldwide recognition for being home to shoe manufacturing because of its high quality and craftsmanship. We always aim to go the extra mile when it comes to technology and the use of new materials and comfort.

We only work with regulated Spanish manufacturers that keep a safe and clean environment for their teams. They also ensure that they don't use harmful materials like certain types of chrome, glue, and other chemicals. The working conditions of the team are carefully monitored to ensure that legal schedules are maintained and salaries are fair. Long-lasting relationships are at the core of our values and that also includes all the parties involved in the creation of each piece.

HEELED BOOTS AND SANDALS FACTORY

Number of employees: 88

Founded in: 1966

Location: Elche, Spain

Our manufacturer is known for its knowledge and experience in heels, both for winter and summer styles. Their attention to detail has allowed us to bring our complex designs to life. The factory is led by the second generation of entrepreneurs that make world-class shoes. All the processes from cutting to stitching to lasting are controlled in-house for each pair of shoes.

TRACK BOOTS, COWBOY AND FLATS FACTORY

Number of employees: 35

Founded in: 1973

Location: Elche, Spain

This manufacturer is a legendary boot maker for more than 49 years now. Jose, son of the founder and member of the second generation is now at the lead of the factory. Extremely experienced in boots, their specialties are cowboy boots, from more simple to very complicated ones, and also track boots too. In summer we keep the factory going with many of the flats we make.

THE STUDIO - SCARFS & BLANKETS

Number of employees: 11

Founded in: 1930

Location: La Rioja, Spain

This manufacturer works with the best natural fibers. Their skilful experts do magic to transform them into blankets and accessories. They are the only Mohair manufacturers that remain in Spain. They take great care in making each piece by thoroughly analysing every detail during each step of the process. All the production is done in-house and it's been this way from generation to generation.

They have national and international certificates that prove their way of working regarding the commitment to traditional methods, the quality and the respect for the environment.

MADE BY WOMEN FOR WOMEN

In a mostly men-ruled footwear industry, where women's needs are supposedly scrutinised and solved by men, we found there was a huge gap in how things are made. Who better to create and develop the best product for us girls, than a team of us?

This is why many of us are involved in the creation process but also in the manufacturing of our products. Made by women for women means empowerment and fellowship from start to finish of everything we do: from drawing a sample mock-up at the office to the stitching of a pair of sandals in the atelier.
